Admissions

Eligibility

Children between the ages of 12 months and 5 years are eligible to attend the Center. The EARLY LEARNING and DEVELOPMENT CENTER has a non-discrimination policy (see "Policies"). No child will be denied admission to the Center because of their background. Indeed, we feel that a good balance of race and culture is a healthy situation and will help your child to develop a tolerance and understanding of other's culture and beliefs.

Hours Of Operation
The hours of operation vary by Center.  The Greenwood Center is open from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  The Lynnwood Center is open from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The Broadview Center is open 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Full and Part-Time Care

Children may attend a maximum of 10 hours per day for full-time care. Children may attend up to five hours per day for part-time care either in the morning or afternoon. Children attending part-time in the morning must be picked up prior to 12:00 p.m. Children attending part-time in the afternoon must arrive after 12:00 p.m. Late fees apply (see below).

Late Charges

Children must be picked up prior to the posted closing time of the Center they attend. The late charge is $1.00 per minute, as indicated on the clock at the Center.  This charge is payable immediately to the staff person who has had to remain after hours at the Center.

Enrollment

The first step in enrolling a child is to schedule a tour of the Center. Scheduling a visit gives families an opportunity to meet with the Center Director, tour the facility and discuss any questions they may have regarding the program. When the decision to enroll has been made, a family orientation meeting with the Center's Director is necessary to complete the required registration forms.

Families are strongly encouraged to visit their child's classroom often prior to the child's starting date. Discussing the classroom environment and daily routine at home can also help to ensure that the transition into care will be a smooth one.

The State of Washington requires that all children enrolled have a current immunization form completed and on file at the Center. Failure to do this may result in a child being denied admittance to the Center. (WAC 388-150-220)

Also, required registration forms must be filled out completely and returned to the Center before or on the child's starting date. These forms give us vital information regarding the child's health, who to notify in the event of an emergency or illness, and other persons who have permission to pick-up children from the Center.
